
Former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak has asked to for witness protection claiming those linked directly or indirectly to 1MDB funds abroad had made threats to his life and his family members.
The Malay Mail reported that Najib had lodged a police report yesterday, claiming his sources had told him that the threats were both from within the country and overseas.
Najib is said to have lodged the report at the Sentul district police headquarters yeterday evening.
Sentul police chief R Munusamy had visited Najib at his home last night.
Meanwhile in the same report, Najib also claimed that cash seized by police in raids a Pavilion Residences were donations from his friends meant for BN's election campaign.
He also reiteratred his claim that the RM2.6 billion he received in 2013, was a donation from the Saudi royal family.
He also complained that investigators have not furnished him with a list of items that have been seized.
Najib is currently the subject of investigations linked to the 1MDB scandal.
Police had on Wednesday launched simultaneous raids on several premises linked to Najib.
In the marathon search, police combing through luxury condo units at Pavilion Residences had seized 74 bags of cash and jewellery, as well as 284 boxes of luxury handbags.
