What about Dr M's horses and Guan Eng's trial, Najib asks

Former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak has slammed Pakatan Harapan for having "double standards" when it comes to scrutinising corruption.
Speaking to the Malay Mail, he said the rule of law must apply to all, including Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, and finance minister-designate Lim Guan Eng.
“Whatever it is, it has to be fair. Rule of law has to be applied in a very fair way, and it must be seen to apply to everybody. Everybody must adhere to the rule of law.
“I mean, if you (Mahathir) have accepted 30 horses (sic) from your friends, that must also be taken into account, because he has admitted openly. The horses were given by his friends.
“He has received gratification from his friends and has admitted it openly,” Najib said at his home.
Mahathir had said in a CNN interview two years ago said he had received about 40 horses as gifts.
Najib is currently being probed with regards to the 1MDB scandal and has had his home and various premises linked to him raided by police.
Mahathir, who ousted Najib in May 9's general election, insists that investigations will follow the rule of law.
Meanwhile, Najib also questioned Lim's appointment as finance minister amid a corruption trial.
"Well, the principle is the rule of law. He is not guilty until proven, so he’s not guilty because he’s been charged.
"Though he’s not guilty yet, but most people don’t think it is appropriate for a man who has been charged to be appointed as a minister of finance, until he clears his name.
“I’m not saying he’s guilty, but clear your name first,” Najib said.
The new finance minister is currently on trial for corruption over the purchase of the Jalan Pinhorn bungalow in George Town from businessperson Phang Li Koon at below market price.
He has denied the allegations, claiming they are politically motivated. -Mkini
