Some Harapan MPs question need for police night raids

Several Pakatan Harapan MPs have expressed conflicting views on the need to raid former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak's house at night.
Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar (above) and Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad said such practice was wrong, adding that they too were former victims of dawn raids.
"As former victims of early dawn police raids, I must stress my disagreement in ransacking any home at such an ungodly hour.
"Charge and investigate prudently. The principles of justice and wisdom must always be applied by the police," wrote Nurul Izzah, who is the PKR vice-president.
In a reply to Nurul Izzah, Khalid said he, too, was once arrested at 2.30am.
"I am in full agreement with Izzah on this issue. Need to investigate, but no need to humiliate or transgress their rights as such.
"Upon completing investigations, charge. No reason to investigate until 4am. I was once taken at 2.30am," wrote the Amanah politician.
Subang MP Wong Chen, however, disagreed that Najib was being subjected to humiliation.
Referring to a Malaysiakini report which depicted Najib sleeping on a sofa while the police went through his house, Wong said this hardly amounted to humiliation.
"I don't think sleeping on a sofa is a humiliation. Isn't that just a picture of a kleptocrat having a light nap?
"In contrast, making Rafizi Ramli walk barefoot (photo) in prison garb three years ago, for the 'crime' of speaking out against injustice, now that's humiliation...
"In the spirit of Ramadan, we should forgive but let's not get carried away by what fairness should be," he said
Beginning late last night, police raided several properties in the Klang Valley linked to Najib. Several boxes have been carted away.
At the time of writing, the raid on his personal residence in Taman Duta is still ongoing. -Mkini
