Another photo of Najib during marathon search operation emerges

As a large team of police personnel continues to be stationed at former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak's residence on Jalan Langgak Duta, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysiakini has received another photograph which was taken inside the house.
According to a source close to Najib, the photograph was taken about 5am as police officers searched the former prime minister's bedroom.
Najib, who is seen clad in the same red Baju Melayu and black slacks that he wore when he attended Taraweh prayers at the Kampung Baru mosque the night before, is standing and observing the police officers.
It is not clear if the operation, involving officers from Bukit Aman's federal police headquarters, is still going on.
Yesterday, the source condemned the hours-long operation as uncalled for and accused Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad of exacting vengeance on his predecessor.
At a press conference this afternoon, Mahathir denied having a hand in the matter.
Several Pakatan Harapan lawmakers, including PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar, have questioned the need for an operation which lasts for more than 12 hours.
At about 4am, Najib's lawyer Harpal Singh Grewal said the search team had seized three to four boxes of handbags, presents and personal belongings.
He claimed that no documents were taken.
Harpal said he believes that the former prime minister is being investigated in relation to money laundering.
The police team had arrived at the residence in more than a dozen cars and a Black Maria truck, which is often used to transport detainees.
This triggered widespread speculation that Najib might be arrested.
It was later learned that the truck was used to transport boxes of evidence.
According to media reports, similar searches were also conducted at five other locations, including the upmarket Pavillion Residences in Kuala Lumpur and the Prime Minister's Office in Putrajaya.
The operation comes in the wake of Mahathir claiming that Najib is expected to be charged soon on the 1MDB scandal.
On Tuesday, the prime minister had also met with inspector-general of police Mohamad Fuzi Harun and commercial crimes director Amar Singh Ishar Singh.
Najib has denied abusing public funds for personal gain. -Mkini
