BN to announce 'shadow cabinet' next week, says Annuar

BN will announce the formation of a group akin to a shadow cabinet next week, said Umno secretary-general Annuar Musa.

"I think BN chairperson Ahmad Zahid Hamidi should be able to announce it (the group) next week," he said.

He said BN will not label the group as a shadow cabinet, although it will be "similar in nature". 

The group is expected to comprise Members of Parliament from BN parties, namely Umno, MCA, and MIC.

Pakatan Harapan has pledged in its manifesto to reform Parliament and enable the legislative branch to play its proper role.

The coalition also pledged to set up a Dewan Rakyat select committee to monitor every ministry, with the power to call ministers and senior officials to testify.

Annuar, who is also the Ketereh MP, said BN would set up its own parliamentarian council to ensure better quality in the debate of the opposition lawmakers.

"We want to get ourself organised better and we want to have more discussion and encourage more lawmakers to co-ordinate one another so we can improve the quality of BN's debate," he added.
