MACC narrowing probe to 16 DBKL plots, says DAP rep

The MACC has narrowed its probe to 16 plots of land belonging to the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) that had allegedly been sold without open tender during the tenure of former Federal Territories Minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.
This is down from the 64 plots MACC was previously scrutinising.
According to Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng, the latest development was relayed to him by Kuala Lumpur Mayor Mohd Amin Nordin Abdul Aziz.
“As of last week, 48 plots have been cleared by the MACC.
“They have cleared DBKL of all wrongdoing... even though the plots were sold without an open tender and at below the market prices.
“With the (remaining) 16, there are some issues with their land titles and payments – 10 of which have not been paid in full and their land titles not transferred (to the buyers) yet,” Lim told Malaysiakini when contacted yesterday.
The DAP lawmaker added that these 10 plots amounted to some 118 acres and a total selling price of RM16.03 million.
Malaysiakini is contacting the MACC for further comment.
Though declining to specify which plots are still under investigation, Lim gave his assurance that “innocent parties” caught up in the probe would have their names cleared.
“For those who are clean and not involved in corrupt practices, I will restore their good names and ensure their plots will be cleared by the MACC.
“But for those involved in any ‘hanky panky’, I will make sure they will be brought to book,” he stressed.
In May, Lim lodged a report against Tengku Adnan (photo above) with the MACC, urging a probe into the Umno politician’s involvement in the sale of DBKL land between 2013 and 2018.
He also claimed that some of these plots were transferred to Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan, a foundation formerly chaired by Tengku Adnan, before being sold to private developers.
Tengku Adnan has denied any misconduct in the land deals in question. -Mkini
