Pakatan Harapan has removed 18 top civil servants since forming the federal government, de facto Law Minister Liew Vui Keong said today.
Liew offered a breakdown in a written parliamentary reply, pointing out that among the 18 is a Prime Minister’s Department official whose contract was terminated on the basis of “public interest.”
Another eight from the same department had their contracts shortened, as did five officials from the Foreign Ministry, two from the Finance Ministry, one from the Home Ministry, and one from the Communications and Multimedia Ministry.
Liew was responding to Hasbullah Osman (BN-Gerik), who had asked for a list of top executives from the civil service and GLCs removed from office by the Harapan government.
24 on MOF Inc board resign
The minister also noted that as of Jul 9, two Tenaga Nasional Bhd board members, as well as a Malaysian Airports Holdings Bhd managing director had their contracts terminated.
As for the Ministry of Finance Inc (MOF Inc), former 1MDB CEO Arul Kandasamy also had his contract cut short. Liew said this was due to a “breach of contract and fiduciary duty”.
Twenty-four MOF Inc board members had since resigned voluntarily.
Since Harapan formed the government following the May 9 election, a slew of top government and GLC executives have either resigned or been removed.
These include former Treasury secretary-general Irwan Serigar Abdullah, former Tabung Haji chairperson Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahim and former PNB chairperson Abdul Wahid Omar. - Mkini
