Ministry to probe report on sexual harassment claim on senior doctor

Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad has promised an investigation into allegations of sexual harassment made by several house officers at a Klang Valley hospital against one of their department head.
"To all that have been enquiring on this case... MOH (Ministry of Health) will get to the bottom of this.
"I want to assure you all, especially the aggrieved victims (the house officers)," Dzulkefly tweeted today.
His response came following a report by The Star which interviewed several house officers, who spoke of their experiences with the doctor, the Orthopaedics department head in a hospital in the Klang Valley, who they claim would often use his authority and power to target the young female doctors.
One house officer spoke of how the man once attempted to unbutton her shirt and kiss her after calling her to discuss work-related matters.
The same person, she had said, would demand she went out drinking with him and then touch her inappropriately when she began to get tipsy.
She said he threatened to fail her in the non-academic component of her test if she did not comply.

The house officer further alleged that no action was ever taken despite her lodging a police report last October.
The Star also interviewed several other house officers, whom the daily did not name, who reportedly shared similar experiences with the first victim.
One alleged that she was bullied and placed on consecutive 36-hour shifts when she refused his advances. - Mkini
