Police will record a statement from the organisers of the pro-royalty protest held near Bukit Aman today.
The protest, organised by the Umno-linked NGO Pemantau Baru, was said to be a show of solidarity for the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, and to give him moral support amid perceived attacks against the monarchy.
Dang Wangi deputy police chief Rudy Abdullah said that the organisers will be summoned in the near future, and that witnesses to facilitate the investigation have been identified.
"We will record the statement from the organiser based on a police report lodged against them.
"They will be summoned to the Dang Wangi police district headquarters," he told Malaysiakini.
Earlier, while speaking to the reporters at Bukit Jalil police station, Kuala Lumpur police chief Mazlan Lazim said the rally was against the law as the organiser had failed to give notice.
"They should have given the police notice 10 days prior to the planned rally. So police will investigate them under Section 9 (1) of the Peaceful Assembly Act."
Mazlan said that police were able to control the crowd, which comprised about 60 people.
The crowd failed to march towards Parliament as the police had blocked them from moving forward.
The crowd dispersed at 10.30am without any untoward incident. - Mkini
