Former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak was thrown a surprise birthday party at the Parliament lobby today by his family and friends.
Najib, who turned 65 today, was served a cake accompanied with the words: "Thank you Sir Datuk Seri Najib Razak".
Among the guests at the event were his wife Rosmah Mansor, opposition leader Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, actress Ellie Suriati Omar, former Bersatu founding member Anina Saadudin and several other BN lawmakers.
After the cake-cutting ceremony, Najib was shown a music video titled "TQ Sir" which depicted scenes during his time as prime minister. It was played on a laptop computer.
"I didn't expect such a complementary video. To me, the video is not about me, but it is a recognition of the previous government's national transformation policies," he said when he was asked to make a speech.
Rosmah, when asked what was her birthday message for Najib, she said that she told her husband that the entire family loved him very much.
"He is a very truthful man and he is on the right path," said Rosmah.
The event was organised by Metamorphosis Global Studio Sdn Bhd.
