An aide of Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has been appointed to the board of Utusan Melayu (Malaysia) Bhd.
Zahid’s press secretary Ibrahim Yahaya was appointed alongside three others – Mohd Azmi Othman, Wan Zalizan Wan Jusoh, and Ahmad Fauzi Zahari.
According to Utusan Malaysia, the appointment takes effect today.
Utusan Melayu executive chairperson Abd Aziz Sheikh Fadzir said the new board members will be joined by himself, group managing director Mohd Noordin Abbas, and group editor-in-chief Abdul Aziz Ishak.
Ibrahim, 58, holds a doctorate in communications from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, and was previously the CEO of Bernama and a media advisor to the Information Ministry.
Azmi, 50, holds a law degree from Universiti Teknologi Mara and is one of the main partners in the law firm Azmi Hisham & Co.
Wan Zalizan, 48, is a business graduate from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and was once the CEO of Menteri Besar Incorporated (Terengganu).
Fauzi, 55, holds a degree in business administration from Boise State University, Idaho, and was previously the chairperson of Technology Park Malaysia. - Mkini
