The former Pasir Mas MP said the two state are “critical areas” where non-Malay parties are dominant.
“We have aspirations of winning GE15. We will outline important criteria that each member must possess.
“Putra intends to champion Islam and protect Bumiputeras’ rights,” he said at a press conference to announce the Registrar of Societies’ approval for the party to be registered, in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
Putra, whose official symbol is a Malay headgear, was formed following requests “from many quarters” unhappy with the current state of politics, he said.
Ibrahim said the party will hold its first general assembly soon to elect committee members and set up branches nationwide.
