PKR leadership failure for not acting against Haziq, says Azmin's man

There is a leadership failure on the part of PKR for not taking action against Santubong PKR Youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz, said the advisor to Economic Affairs Minister Azmin Ali.

Khalid Jaafar (photo, above) said on social media today that the lack of action will tarnish the image of the party in the eyes of the Malay and Muslim community.

"Such amnesia is seen as a failure of leadership from the part of Keadilan, especially its president (Anwar Ibrahim)," he said.

On June 16, Anwar was reported to have said that no action would be taken against Haziq for the time being.

He said PKR would wait for police investigations to finish and would not want to make a hasty decision by punishing Haziq until he was proven guilty.

Meanwhile, Khalid also rebutted Deputy Primary Industry Minister Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin who claimed that Haziq was once Azmin's intern.

"That is wrong. Haziq was never an intern to Azmin (when he was Selangor menteri besar)," he said.

Khalid, who was once the strategy and research development director in the Selangor Menteri Besar Office, admitted he recommended Haziq to be taken as Azmin's intern.

"My suggestion was rejected by Azmin. To protect Haziq's feeling, I then suggested placing him as an intern in the MB's office under my supervision," he said, adding that Haziq turned down his offer.

Khalid said Haziq was never a victim in the sex video incident as he proundly confessed that he had committed carnal intercouse, which is considered a crime.

Haziq, in a “confession” posted on his Facebook, claimed to be the person in the clip showing him engaging in sexual acts with an individual resembling Azmin.

He claimed that it was Azmin in the clips and that their alleged tryst was recorded in the minister's hotel room in Sandakan during the by-election for the parliamentary seat last month.

Haziq insisted that he was a victim as well, because someone recorded and leaked what should have been a private moment.  - Mkini
