Lokman Adam issued show cause letter

Umno Supreme Council member Lokman Noor Adam was served a show-cause letter over his statements on social media that could purportedly disrupt ethnic peace and harmony in the country.
This was revealed by a copy of the Show Cause Statement, signed by Inspector Mohd Shamm Nazfadley Nasir today.
Mohd Shamm is from the Classified Criminal Investigation Unit of Bukit Aman's Criminal Investigation Department.
The Show Cause Order was also signed by Lokman (above) as acknowledgement on the same date today.

The order directed Lokman to appear before the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate's Court on Dec 11 at 10am, and show cause as to why a RM20,000 good behaviour bond, with two sureties aged 18 or above and to take effect for six months, should not be meted out against him.
"Information was obtained by me (Inspector Shamm) that you (Lokman) issued statements and comments that are seditious in nature (bersifat hasutan), disgusting in nature (jelik sifatnya), and the comment can lead to disruption of peace and harmony among the various races of society in Malaysia, by using social media like Facebook as an intermediary (perantara)," the order stated.
It was previously reported on Oct 30 that the police will suggest the Attorney-General's Chambers to serve Lokman with a court bond to prevent him from issuing statements on social media which could rile the country's harmony.
This was told by the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department chief Huzir Mohamed following Lokman's statement on Oct 27 which reads: Bersiap Sedia Untuk Peperangan Paling Dahsyat (Be ready for war).
Lokman had allegedly accused Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad of attempting to use his power to stop PKR President Anwar Ibrahim from becoming the prime minister.
"We confirmed that the Facebook account which posted the statement belongs to Lokman Adam.
"Checks showed that there are seven investigation papers on him by the Bukit Aman Classified Criminal Investigation Unit, while 10 more investigation papers have been opened by various police contingents.
"He has produced a lot of statements which are provocative in nature and stir racial discord," Huzir reportedly said.
This month, Lokman was charged at the Shah Alam Magistrate's Court with inciting or being likely to incite the public to commit an offence against another community, where he pleaded not guilty.
"First, we can suggest for the court to impose extra conditions on his bail for his ongoing case.
"If the court agrees, he has to show himself at the police station every month.
"Second, to ensure peace in the country, the court can serve him with a bond for a certain period," said Huzir.
Lokman is known for defending former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak in his protests against the Pakatan Harapan government, and actively issues statements via social media.
In March, he and four others were charged over a fracas with Universiti Malaya students and journalists.
In June, Lokman was arrested by the police for obstructing public officials from discharging their duties and using abusive language against the police when they searched his house in Kajang Hillpark.
He had earlier issued statements on the sex video which implicated Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali. - Mkini
