No agreement for Tian Chua to mediate peace talks with Azmin

PKR president Anwar Ibrahim (above, left) has denied there is an attempt to use a middleperson to initiate peace talks between him and his estranged deputy Azmin Ali.
Asked to comment on a news report that PKR vice-president Tian Chua (above, right) is facilitating the negotiations, Anwar said: “There is no such agreement.”
“I hold discussions with all (PKR leaders) - Tian Chua, (R) Sivarasa, Maria Chin (Abdullah) wants to meet me, Fahmi Fadzil, Nik Nazmi (Nik Ahmad) and Saifuddin (Nasution Ismail).
“Yesterday, there was a prayer session at my house. There were those from PKR Youth and Wanita.

“I meet everyone and my message to them is not to make it difficult to cooperate, not to use forums to attack anyone and let us unite to heighten awareness of the party based on a single agenda,” he told reporters in Parliament this afternoon.
Citing a source, the New Straits Times reported that Tian Chua met with Anwar three days ago at an undisclosed location to discuss the worsening rift in PKR.
Describing the former Batu MP as aligned to Azmin, the report said Tian Chua was concerned about a possible implosion in PKR and conveyed his suspicions to Anwar about hidden hands seeking to widen the fissure.
Tian Chua, it added, impressed on Anwar to look at how the tension had erupted following the sacking of Zakaria Abdul Hamid from the party central leadership council, as well as Muhamad Mizan Adli Mohd Nor and Mohd Ramly Ahmad from their respective posts as PKR Youth permanent chairperson and deputy.
Apart from this, he also told Anwar that the move to hold a parallel PKR congress was nothing more than retaliation from disgruntled Youth members.
“Anwar only nodded in agreement, with a tinge of worry on his face. He acknowledged his old friend’s concerns and promised to delve into the matter seriously,” said the report.
Meanwhile, Anwar told reporters this afternoon that he has not held a four-eyed meeting with vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin, who is also aligned to Azmin.
“There has been no 'heart-to-heart' meeting as yet. But I have no qualms meeting her during normal (Pakatan Harapan) meetings.
“I have not shied away from meetings, but I am apprehensive if (the other) person represents groups or factions, I do not want to (meet),” he added.
