MACC to charge head of Education Ministry-owned firm

The MACC is expected to charge the head of Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) tomorrow.
Abdul Rahman Mohamed Shariff is expected to face three charges when he is brought before Sessions Court judge Rozina Ayob, according to a statement by the MACC.
The MACC did not specify the charges but said they will be under the Penal Code.
EMGS is wholly-owned by the Education Ministry and was tasked with promoting Malaysian education providers to the globe.

The company, formed in 2012, was under investigation by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) last year.
It is also a one-stop centre for foreign students to apply for visa and health insurance.
According to FMT, the MACC visited the EMGS office last week.
At the time, Abdul Rahman said the MACC was investigating a complaint by an ex-employee.
"It was over a purchase of Ramadan dates," he said, assuring that the move was above board. - Mkini
