PETALING JAYA: A group of Pahang-based NGOs lodged a police report against a Facebook user known as Nengtung Ting, who is believed to have insulted the Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah on social media.
Representatives from the Pahang Youth Council, Kuantan Youth Council and Gabungan Pelajar-Pelajar Melayu Pahang said the alleged Facebook user had used rude words against the Queen.
Pahang Youth Council president Wan Emril Nizam Wan Embong hoped that action would be taken under the Sedition Act 1948 as well as the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
"This was an irresponsible act that has upset the people of Pahang. We want the police to take immediate action against the individual hiding behind the name Nengtung Ting as well as others who had insulted the Queen," he said.
Sinar Harian reported that the police report was lodged at the Kuantan police station on Jan 9.
On Jan 8, Nengtung Ting allegedly insulted the Queen in Chinese in response to her decision to tweet in Jawi. - Star
