Workers from red zones can’t operate in green zones, says Sarawak

Sarawak has allowed Fama to set up farmers’ markets across the state to ensure continuous food supply.
KUCHING: Companies in additional sectors allowed to operate during Phase 3 of the movement control order (MCO) must get approval from the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee, its chairman Douglas Uggah Embas said.
He said companies in Covid-19 green zones would only be allowed to operate if they did not require movement or supply of workers from red zones.
“This is important to prevent the spread of the virus to the green zones.
“About 60% of districts in Sarawak are classified as green zones for Covid-19,” he said at a press conference here today.
“Companies must also be responsible for bearing all medical and other related costs if their workers test positive for the virus,” he added.
On another matter, Uggah said the Federal Agriculture Marketing Authority (Fama) would set up farmers’ markets across the state to ensure continuous food supply.
However, these farmers’ markets must comply with social distancing and good hygiene rules, he added.
He revealed that Sarawak had recorded 16 new Covid-19 positive cases, bringing the total to 387.
“Thirteen of them are currently being treated at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), two at Miri Hospital and another one at Bintulu Hospital.”
He said as of today, there were 116 new Persons Under Investigation (PUI) in Sarawak, bringing the total to 3,065.
Of this total, he said 2,419 cases were negative. A total of 54 people have been discharged from hospital while the death toll due to the virus in the state remains at 14. - FMT
