DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng has rubbished former BN secretary-general Annuar Musa's claim that Umno's big guns and DAP were in talks and preparing to work with each other.
He slammed Annuar for making up stories on Umno-DAP cooperation and labelled the federal territories minister as “dishonest” and "a desperado" for dragging DAP into his own fight for political survival in Umno.
“Don’t drag us into this. Don’t use us as a pretext to save your own political skin. This is wrong and dishonest," he was quoted as saying by Free Malaysia Today.
Lim said he, Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, and Zahid's predecessor Najib Razak only exchanged greetings out of courtesy when their paths crossed in Parliament.
Lim said in reality, he had spoken to Annuar more than Zahid and Najib combined when he was trying to get the minister to meet Pakatan Harapan MPs from Kuala Lumpur to talk about issues relating to the KL City Hall (DBKL).
Lim stressed that political cooperation between Umno and DAP was highly unlikely due to incompatible ideologies.
"Annuar’s pursuit of his racist and extremist philosophy for his political survival is an anathema to the DAP because it is exclusive and un-Malaysian," he said.
In a press conference earlier today, Annuar claimed that Zahid was colluding with opposition leader and PKR president Anwar Ibrahim and DAP to oust the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government.
When contacted by Malaysiakini, Lim said he expected the Harapan presidential council will meet next week to discuss the current political situation.
He, however, said this is merely a regular monthly meeting, which is tentatively scheduled to be held next week.
Malaysiakini found out that the previous presidential council meeting was called off after Lim and Amanah president Mohamad Sabu said Harapan needed a political reset following the failure to vote down Budget 2021.
