KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has launched a complaint line through the WhatsApp application to make it easier for the public to channel information on any road damage in the capital.

“For potholes that are less than one square metre in size, action will be taken within 24 hours after the complaint is received,” said mayor Mahadi Che Ngah.

“We will send the repair team immediately if the information provided is accurate and an evaluation will also be able to identify whether it is under DBKL jurisdiction.”

He said the DBKL Potholes Complaint app was launched on Jan 7 to make the capital free of potholes. It received 271 complaints within a day.

Mahadi advised users sending their WhatsApp complaints via 01162396652 to state the exact locations of the damaged roads to enable immediate action to be taken.

He said 11,979 road damage reports, including those on potholes, were received in 2020 and were acted upon by DBKL.

Mahadi said there were various factors that caused potholes such as development projects, digging by utility companies, the failure of road design and the increase in traffic volume. - FMT
