Car split in half by lightning strike, one dead (with VIDEO)

 

One person died after a lightning strike split a car in half in Simpang Empat, Kampung Sireh, Kota Bharu, Kelantan, today.

Kota Darulnaim Fire and Rescue Station chief Mohd Ridzuan Ali said they received the emergency call at 5.39pm and directed 12 members from two units of the Kota Darulnaim Fire and Rescue Station and Tunjong Fire and Rescue Station to the scene.

“A car, which split in two, is believed to have been struck by lightning and one victim is believed to have died. Five nearby vehicles were also involved.

“The rescue operation was carried out with the strength of 12 firefighters from the BBP Kota Darulnaim and BBP Tunjung units,” he said in a brief statement to the media, in Kota Bharu, today.

Earlier, footage of the incident was also spread on social media showing a car in flames.
