Nearly 10,000 no-shows for Covid-19 vaccine in Kelantan

Nearly 10,000 residents of Kelantan, especially the elderly aged 60 and above, have failed to turn up to receive the Covid-19 vaccine jabs as of yesterday.

State Health Department director Dr Zaini Hussin (above) said one of the reasons for their absence was due to health problems.

According to him, there were also those who could not attend due to personal problems and postponed to another date.

"Besides that, many also did not provide any reason to the vaccination centre. All those who did not attend the vaccination were those who registered for the second phase.

"When we get the list a day or two before (vaccination), we will contact everyone to confirm whether they can attend or not at the appointed time," he said when contacted in Kota Bharu, today.

However, Zaini added, his officers also had cases that could not be contacted and did not answer the appointment notification call to receive the vaccine.

"Not all can be contacted because so many people have registered on the MySejahtera application and there are also those who do not answer the call."

He explained that those who want to postpone the date or change the location of the vaccination centre need to contact the MySejahtera hotline to do so.

According to Zaini, if an individual is unable to attend to get the vaccine on the scheduled appointment date, health officials will then contact other people on the waiting list to avoid wasting the vaccine supply.

“So far, we have opened centres in Kota Bharu, Pasir Putih, Jeli, Machang, Kuala Krai and Bachok.

"As of yesterday, more than 340,000 individuals have registered their names through MySejahtera and the number is still low," said Dr Zaini. - Mkini
