KOTA KINABALU: Policemen shot at a suspected drug dealer's car tyres to foil his getaway before arresting him on Monday (Oct 11).
The suspect, in his 20s, was trying to avoid a police inspection in front of a commercial centre in Menggatal near here.
The suspect only managed to drive some 120m before policemen caught him.
An inspection on the suspect and his vehicle revealed some 100g of syabu in plastic packets.
Kota Kinabalu acting OCPD Supt George Rakman said policemen had asked him to step out of his vehicle but the suspect refused and started his car in an attempt to flee.
He said police fired two shots – one each at the left and right front tyres – but he still managed to drive off.
"The suspect was caught some 120m into the chase," Supt George said in a statement on Monday.
This incident was caught on camera, footage of which went on social media.
"This case is being investigated under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952," said Supt George. - Star
