PETALING JAYA: Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) group CEO Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh has resigned from his post, just hours after former Media Prima group managing director Iskandar Mizal Mahmood was appointed as the airport operator’s new managing director.
In a statement, MAHB said Mohd Shukrie had decided to leave to pursue other opportunities. His resignation takes effect from Oct 24. Iskandar’s appointment comes into effect on Oct 25.
The resignation comes following an FMT report that a key stakeholder had sought Mohd Shukrie’s removal despite the board’s acknowledgement of his performance.
Reports of his possible removal revived fears of a takeover of the highly profitable Subang airport by a private company.
Earlier today, MAHB announced the appointment of Iskandar as its new managing director.
“The board would like to thank Datuk Mohd Shukrie for his services and would like to wish him well in his future endeavours,” said MAHB in a statement.
Mohd Shukrie had first joined MAHB as its chief operating officer in May 2019 before assuming the GCEO position in 2020. - FMT
