This followed the recent announcement on allowing fully vaccinated Malaysians to travel to holiday destinations within the country without having to apply for permission from the police.
For those planning overseas trips, they are also not required to apply for the MyTravelPass from the Immigration department.
Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said, however, travellers in both instances needed to follow the standard operating procedures set by the National Security Council, and quarantine regulations upon their return to the country.
"To revive this sector, one of the ministry's focuses is to restore tourist confidence in the security level at a tourist destination and ensure the country's tourism sector is able to regenerate income continuously."
Nancy said the ministry would continue to formulate a more aggressive and strategic promotional campaign to boost the country's tourism sector.
The ministry also encouraged tourists to undergo Covid-19 tests before traveling.- NST
