COVID-19 | The Health Ministry today reported 5,291 new Covid-19 cases today, bringing the cumulative infections to 2,486,630.
Nationally, the number of hospital admissions in the last seven days have declined by 3.5 percent compared to the preceding week.
However, hospital admissions in some states are on the rise, particularly in Terengganu (+38.1 percent), Negeri Sembilan (+20.3 percent) and Kedah (+15.0 percent).
Beginning Oct 9, the Health Ministry will only publish today's breakdown of new cases by states after midnight on its CovidNow portal.
The breakdown by states for yesterday (Nov 2), where 5,071 new cases were reported, is as follow:
Selangor (899)
Kelantan (688)
Sabah (549)
Sarawak (528)
Johor (419)
Kedah (347)
Penang (276)
Kuala Lumpur (259)
Pahang (250)
Perak (219)
Terengganu (217)
Malacca (214)
Negeri Sembilan (119)
Perlis (54)
Putrajaya (33)
Labuan (0)
The R-naught for the country is 0.95 as of yesterday. A R-naught of less that 1.00 suggests that the spread of Covid-19 is slowing down.
There are two regions where the R-naught is above 1.00 - Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur. Notably, Malacca and Negeri Sembilan recorded a R-naught of exactly 1.00, higher than past week.
