Covid-19 (Nov 6): 4,701 new cases, case count breaches 2.5m

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry today reported 4,701 new Covid-19 cases today, bringing the cumulative infections to 2,501,966.

The R-naught for Malaysia was 0.94 as of yesterday. A R-naught of less than 1.00 suggests that the spread of Covid-19 was decelerating.

However, the territories of Selangor, Malacca, Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan and Perlis all have a R-naught of more than 1.00.

Nationally, the number of hospital admissions in the last seven days have declined by 6.3 percent compared to the preceding week.

However, hospital admissions in some states are on the rise, particularly in Terengganu (+29.8 percent), Negeri Sembilan (+20.5 percent) and Pahang (+11.3 percent).

Beginning Oct 9, the Health Ministry will only publish today's breakdown of new cases by states after midnight on its CovidNow portal.

The breakdown by states for yesterday (Nov 5), where 4,922 new cases were reported, is as follow:

Selangor (1,075)
Sabah (554)
