SANDAKAN: Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob will discuss the development of the Sabah-Kalimantan border with Indonesian President Joko Widodo during his visit to the country next week.
Ismail said their discussion will also cover efforts to develop the border area, including improving the infrastructure.
“For example, Kalabakan (Sabah) borders Kalimantan. Indonesia has developed its side of the border.
“We want the Sabah border area to be developed with better infrastructure, possibly turning it into a tourist town to attract people from Kalimantan. That is one of the issues that President Jokowi and i will discuss,” he said, addressing Sandakan community leaders at a meeting tonight.
Also present were Sabah deputy chief minister and works minister Bung Moktar Radin, deputy works minister Arthur Kurup, tourism, culture and environment minister Jafry Arifin and community development and people’s well-being minister Shahelmey Yahya. - FMT
