SOP violation: 'Repeat offender' Najib in KJ's crosshairs
BrownCarp3140: Thank you, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, for having your eyes on the convict, Najib Abdul Razak.
It must be pretty daunting for you as Najib has clearly sent the message that he can defy the laws of the country. Why? because Najib can!
He owed almost RM2 billion to the Inland Revenue Board and yet the courts released his passport for him to travel.
The former prime minister has been convicted of seven charges involving RM27 million in the SRC International case but he is walking around freely - even with police escorts, which has been defended by the inspector-general of police (IGP).
Khairy, you are a lame duck minister. So please, do us all justice by stating that there is nothing you can do when it comes to Najib.
Harapan Dan Keadilan: They should just lock Najib in jail where he belongs given that he is a convicted criminal. His arrogance is beyond belief. He seems quite prepared to flout the law without care.
Surely, as a convicted criminal, his conditions of not being incarcerated during his appeal process must require him at a minimum to abide by the law and not flagrantly flout it as he does.
The sooner his appeal reconfirms his guilt and conviction, the better. It is a total joke and travesty that he is not in jail, let alone be able to leave the country with impunity.
Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has much to answer for. What a weak PM he is, given that he feels beholden to the “court cluster” to stay in power.
Open Minded 2281: This shows BN’s double standards. Yes, the police should put Najib in lockup for a few days because he continues to break Covid SOPs (standard operating procedures).
If this was DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, he would be in jail now.
3dots: This man nicknamed “Bossku” was convicted for abuse of power and criminal breach of trust under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.
All this was during his time as the sixth prime minister (PM6). He was found guilty when the government was being run by PM7, who dethroned “Bossku” at the 14th general election (GE14). However, we never saw him serve time in jail.
Subsequently, the backdoor PM8 takes over and partners with this man’s kleptocratic party. And up till now, there has been a stay of execution of this man’s 12-year jail sentence.
You may not be able to hang a man twice, however, this convicted VVIP can be convicted for other crimes. But it won’t happen because today the government is being run by PM9, who used to work under the convicted PM6. It seems he still owes allegiance to this man.
So, it will take another government to convict this man. This is because this PM9 government seems to belong to this man still. Everybody seems to be working for him indirectly.
So, this “Bossku” roams free, though convicted. He enjoys privileges accorded to a VVIP. He can keep doing so until all avenues of his appeal are exhausted.
The alleged ‘loot’ can be returned to him. His travel ban is lifted. And SOPs? Your guess is as good as mine.
BrownLion2645: Khairy, you are keeping a close eye or closed eye? Paying attention is one thing but taking action is another.
Fines and compounds for Bossku and his cronies are a small change to them. He appears to be untouchable.
OCT: Nobody dares to issue any summons to Bossku. Najib is above the paygrade of these officers, so everyone buat tak tahu (pretend not to know).
It's like, who wants to bell the cat? Najib is still a force to be reckoned with. Everyone is keeping their options open in case he returns as the next PM.
Those who crossed paths with him will disappear for safety reasons, while those who have stayed loyal to him will be handsomely rewarded. This is Malaysian politics 101.
BusinessFirst: What pray tell is RM20,000 in fines? In some cases, this is not even one-tenth of the price of the hundreds of Birkin and other bags that his wife has.
BlackTiger4134: Can a convict on bail pending appeal be scot-free for so long? Could his appeal not be heard online? Does the Court of Appeal require two years to hear an appeal? Will not such an appeal be useless and stale?
In the meantime, can the convict carry on as a member of Parliament? How can the convict survive politically so long?
Khairy is the son of a distinguished diplomat, not the son of an ultra-racist like Najib. Khairy may not be all that innocent, but he is not as dishonest like Najib. Khairy ought to fix up Najib despite Najib’s friends in high places.
Cyclonus: Give me a break. Najib has a perpetual get-out-of-jail-free card, 'platinum' passport to travel overseas anytime and police escort - courtesy of our tax money - to clear the roads from his house to Parliament and on to Malacca and back to his plush mansion.
What makes Khairy think he can do anything that Najib and gang would take seriously? - Mkini
