Tajuddin to host ‘kenduri’ for PM at Zahid's doorstep

The small but historical town of Pasir Salak in Perak will play host to Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob's ‘Aspirasi Keluarga Malaysia’ (AKM) roadshow this weekend.

However, the involvement of Pasir Salak MP Tajuddin Abdul Rahman will likely bring the spotlight on this leg of the otherwise uneventful roadshow.

Unlike the AKM roadshows in Sabah, Perlis, Johor and Terengganu, the Perak leg is the only one that is not taking place in the state capital.

Moreover, Pasir Salak is a parliamentary constituency adjacent to the more populous Bagan Datuk - a seat held by Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi for six terms.

Zahid had recently removed Tajuddin from the Umno supreme council. Following this, Tajuddin went on a lengthy tirade against Zahid, accusing him of various political plots and urging him to step down.

Tajuddin appeared on TV1's ‘Selamat Pagi Malaysia’ programme this morning to promote the event and was very proud that Pasir Salak was playing host.

"In other states, the roadshow is conducted in the state capital. It’s different in Perak. We are doing it in Pasir Salak. Pasir Salak is special," he said.

The three-day event will take place at the Dato Sagor Circuit - named after the eponymous Malay noble who was accused of conspiring against British colonial official JWW Birch, who was assassinated in Pasir Salak in 1875.

Ismail Sabri will attend the event on the final day and will be the guest of honour at a "kenduri rakyat" (party for the people) hosted by Tajuddin.

"We will slaughter 10 cows and hold a lucky draw," said Tajuddin.

Promotional materials for the event suggest that apart from Tajuddin and Ismail Sabri, Perak Menteri Besar Saarani Mohamad will also be at the event.

The AKM roadshow is organised by the Information Department under the Communications and Multimedia Ministry. - Mkini
