Indian tourists in viral video not ill treated, says immigration DG

The person who recorded the video claimed that Indian tourists were made to wait an ‘unnecessarily long time’ to clear immigration even though they had valid travel documents.

PETALING JAYA: Immigration director-general Khairul Dzaimee Daud has dismissed a viral video alleging mistreatment of Indian tourists at KLIA.

Khairul said the claims were untrue when contacted by FMT.

“There is no discrimination at all. The video is not true,” he said.

In a recent clip making the rounds on social media, a woman claimed that Indian tourists visiting Malaysia were made to wait an “unnecessarily long time” to clear immigration even though they had valid travel documents.

She also alleged that the tourists were made to sit on the floor and said this was an “act of disrespect”. The video was said to have been posted on Thursday.

Meanwhile, a meeting is scheduled to take place at KLIA tomorrow involving the immigration department and several travel and tour agencies and associations.

This is according to an invite issued by the tourism, arts and culture ministry.

The invite, sighted by FMT, states that the purpose of the meeting will be to clear the air over arrival and departure SOPs in the country. - FMT
