Dulu Abang Mat Sabu kata masalah tak cukup beras tempatan akan selesai dalam masa tiga bulan. Sekarang peperangan di Ukraine sudah nak masuk tahun ketiga. Peperangan terbaru di Gaza pula sudah masuk enam bulan. Masalah kekurangan bekalan beras masih tak selesai.
The rice problem WILL NOT BE SOLVED AS LONG AS THE RICE IMPORT MONOPOLY IS NOT ABOLISHED.
Just saying there is a rice shortage without abolishing the rice import monopoly is only cheating the people.Just saying 'the education system has failed' and then maintaining the same corrupted policies is just cheating the people.
Just paying lip service without doing anything is cheating the people.
The decision last week that all government catering (sekolah asrama, government functions etc) will only use IMPORTED RICE to free up "cheaper" domestic rice for local consumers is just more dumber than dumb decision making.
How will that ever help the supply of domestically produced rice?
Where is the guarantee that gomen caterers will not cook domestic rice and then charge the gomen the higher prices for "imported rice" to make more profits?
Where is the guarantee there will not be any corruption involved?
Where is the guarantee that domestic rice which is high quality is NOT being repackaged and resold as "imported rice" to avoid the price controls? Again to make more money. (Which is why there could be the rice shortage in the first place?)
Now the Speaker of Parliament Jo Bedul has suggested that Malaysians eat ubi kayu instead.
