Muhyiddin Yassin should make a public apology over his claim that the previous Agong acted against him when appointing the prime minister after the 15th general election, said Umno leader Mohd Puad Zarkashi.
The Umno supreme council member called the former prime minister’s claim outrageous and said the police should probe and take strict action against Muhyiddin.
“Muhyiddin’s action of dragging the name of the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong into the Nenggiri by-election (campaign) was outrageous.
“Now, there are (numerous) police complaints made against him… If you look at the viral recording, it contains serious accusations as if His Highness was unfair.
“When he says ‘But somehow the king at that time did not invite me to the palace to take the oath’, it was clearly mixed with incitement,” Puad (above, left) said in a statement.
Unfit to be PM again
The Umno leader said what made it worse was that Muhyiddin did it openly and in a political campaign.
“Five days have passed. Muhyiddin is silent and does not ask for forgiveness.
“Is it suitable for him to be PM again?” Puad asked.
Police have summoned Muhyiddin to provide his statement on Tuesday over his speech that allegedly touched on 3R issues (race, religion, royalty).
Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain said yesterday the police had received 29 reports from various parties regarding the matter so far.
“We are calling on him to provide his statement on Aug 20 to facilitate investigations,” he told Bernama.
Pahang Menteri Besar Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail also expressed his disappointment over Muhyiddin’s speech in a Facebook post on Saturday and urged the authorities to act against the Pagoh MP. - Mkini
