KING of Malaysia Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar will personally oversee all military equipment purchases to ensure quality and prevent corruption.
Speaking at the Royal Commissioning Parade at Kem Perdana Sungai Besi, the King noted the importance of honesty and integrity among military officers, warning against corruption and abuse of power.
Sultan Ibrahim said that as the supreme leader of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF), he would not “give face” to any MAF officer involved in corruption or power abuse, nor to those who fail to fulfil their duties.
“A career as a military officer demands honesty and trust as well as unwavering sacrifice and loyalty to defend the country’s sovereignty. There should never be a military officer involved in corrupt practices, especially those involving the purchase of government equipment and contracts,” said His Majesty.
He also stressed that military officers must maintain discipline and uphold trust in the MAF.
Moreover, the King advised newly commissioned cadet officers to persevere through rigorous training and adapt to new defence technologies, warning those unwilling to face challenges to reconsider their commitment. – Focus Malaysia
