Now DAP files report against Rembia rep over ‘kafir harbi’ slur

KUALA LUMPUR: 

Three Malay DAP leaders have lodged a police report against Rembia assemblyman Jailani Khamis for allegedly also labelling their party as 

kafir harbi

 (belligerent infidels).

Bangi MP Syahredzan Johan, Bentong MP Young Syefura Othman and former Paloh assemblyman Sheikh Umar Bagharib Ali filed the report at the Dang Wangi police headquarters here.

Syahredzan claimed the remark was made by two people: the emcee at an election ceramah, who has since apologised, and Jailani. The issue must be taken seriously as they were sowing seeds of hatred and fanning enmity among the people, said Syahredzan, who is a DAP central executive committee member.

Whether they want to apologise or not, action must be taken against them,

 he said.

FMT has sought comment from Jailani.

The three Malay DAP leaders previously demanded an apology from the PAS man who made the remark during a ceramah for the Nenggiri by-election last Thursday. Gua Musang DAP also lodged a police report.

The man, Zamri Zahari, was suspended from campaigning for three days and apologised for getting carried away while acting as the ceramah’s emcee. He admitted that his remark was excessive, unnecessary and had offended various parties. - FMT
