Online lucky draw with huge, lucrative prizes draws attention and suspicion

IF it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. These are likely the most pertinent words to sum up the video by netizen #UpdateInfo which showed a lady rewarding some lucky winner with a cash prize worth RM100,000 and a Ford Mustang.

Later in the video, she stated that the first prize was a Vellfire. Unsurprisingly, netizens were doubtful of the windfall received by the participants, with many of them calling it out as an elaborate scam.

The unidentified lady was only known as Gadis QS, with a TikTok account boasting about 650,000 followers.

Looking through her TikTok account, it was found that she was running a lucky draw contest. Many of her videos were gaining traction, which showed her handing out huge prizes such as motorcycles, a Proton X50 and cash prizes to participants.

In her latest lucky draw “contest” customers must first purchase a Gadis Jejaka perfume to participate. With one purchase, the customer’s name is entered once into the box.

Another entry is added for each additional purchase, meaning that customers have an increased chance of winning the prizes the more they buy.

According to netizen FAB-3000, it was a huge red flag when the lady hid her face while holding a band of money and showing an expensive car, that foolishness and trickery is at work. However, he laments the fact that many Malays will be fooled by this.

Another netizen claimed that the money used was fake. For the car, it could have been rented from anywhere.

Finally, a netizen came up with a post explaining the ruse behind the lucky draw. According to PW Community, a group on Facebook, a rolled paper will take time to be straightened, especially if it had been rolled up for a long period of time.

However, Gadis QS who drew the name from the box showed a flat paper with the name written on it, suggesting that the lucky draw had been rigged.

Moving forward, Gadis QS has pinned a video on her Tik Tok account, revealing that she had made a police report, further revealing the many impersonators she found online.

She even advised netizens not to trust anyone resembling her and asking for monetary payment to receive these prizes.

The only legitimate way of winning such prizes, according to her, was to purchase her products and participate in the lucky draw. The latest video from Gadis QS showed her handing a Yamaha NVX to a Malay man. True or not, you decide. – Focus Malaysia
