PETALING JAYA
PKR says Bersatu Youth’s call to investigate a video on Suara Keadilan’s YouTube channel about Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin may be aimed at deflecting focus from the former prime minister and his
disrespectful comments
.

PKR deputy information chief Razeef Rakimin told FMT that Muhyiddin’s speech during the recent Nenggiri by-election campaign seemingly questioned the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s decision to appoint PKR president Anwar Ibrahim as prime minister after the last general election.

He said Muhyiddin’s comments, currently the subject of a probe, also seemed to mock the royal institution.

Razeef also noted that Selangor’s Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah had previously warned politicians against issuing

fatwa
or Islamic religious rulings after Muhyiddin had issued a
fatwa
 last September declaring it was
haram
to vote for Pakatan Harapan candidate Suhaizan Kaiat in the Pulai by-election.

Bersatu Youth’s call for Suara Keadilan to be investigated appears to be an attempt to deflect attention from Muhyiddin’s disrespectful statement,
 said Razeef.

If Bersatu Youth believes Muhyiddin’s statement is correct, I challenge them to declare whether they support the story Muhyiddin presented during his campaign speech in Nenggiri.

Earlier today, a Bersatu Youth leader lodged a police report urging the authorities to investigate a video on Suara Keadilan’s YouTube channel, claiming it had doctored Muhyiddin’s speech given during the Nenggiri by-election campaign.

Perikatan Nasional Youth election director Akmal Zahin Zainal claimed the video was uploaded to the PKR mouthpiece with a photo of the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah.

Akmal Zahin said the video did not contain the full speech Muhyiddin delivered and, thus, was taken out of context.

Yesterday, PN chairman Muhyiddin defended the speech he made when campaigning for the Nenggiri by-election on Aug 15, saying it was not intended to insult the monarchy.

He also insisted that his speech was factual and not meant to incite the public.

In a ceramah, Muhyiddin had claimed that

for some reason
he was not invited by Al-Sultan Abdullah to be sworn in as prime minister after the 15th general election despite obtaining a majority to form the government.

Muhyiddin’s remarks have led to numerous police reports being lodged against him, alleging that he had questioned the king’s authority and calling for stern action to be taken.

The Tengku Mahkota of Pahang, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, has also called on the police to act decisively against Muhyiddin.

Tengku Hassanal said Muhyiddin had deliberately disparaged the former king. - FMT
