PETALING JAYA
An Umno Supreme Council member has challenged Muhyiddin Yassin to name the 115 MPs who supposedly backed him to become prime minister in 2022.

Responding to the Bersatu president’s claim earlier today that his controversial statement was factual, Puad Zarkashi said:

If it’s a fact, I challenge Muhyiddin to reveal the names of the MPs that he alleges supported him to be the 10th prime minister.

Muhyiddin courted controversy when he recently questioned why he was not invited by the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, to become prime minister after the 2022 general election. He said he had obtained a majority, and had the backing of enough MPs to form the government.

His remarks led to a range of police reports being lodged against him and a rebuke by the Pahang crown prince, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, who said Muhyiddin had

deliberately
 disparaged the former king.

Earlier today, Muhyiddin defended his remark, which is now subject of a police investigation, saying it was factual, not meant to incite the public, and not intended to insult the monarchy.

The Pahang crown prince’s call for police action against Muhyiddin was supported by Pahang Umno leader Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, who said Pahang Umno viewed Muhyiddin’s actions as extremely disrespectful of the previous king. - FMT
