An aide to Bersatu vice-president Ahmad Faizal Azumu has filed a police report against a Perak Umno social media post accused of slandering the state Perikatan Nasional chief.
The disputed post claimed that during his tenure as Perak menteri besar from 2018 to 2020, Faizal had approved 103 licences for pig farms in the state.
Insisting that the accusation against him is baseless and an instance of defamation, Faizal also highlighted that the post had featured his image and clearly referred to him as the “former PN MB”.
“This post is deliberately malicious, defamatory, and aimed at tarnishing my image and reputation.
“My special officer filed the police report calling for an immediate investigation and action against those responsible for creating and disseminating the content,” he added in a Facebook post today.
Faizal also asserted that the posting had damaged not only his personal reputation, but also tarnished PN’s good name.
According to a copy of the police report attached to the former youth and sports minister’s post, the report was filed at around midnight at the Ipoh district police headquarters.
Throughout the Ayer Kuning by-election, which will conclude today, PN has repeatedly raised various issues concerning pig farms in the Perak state seat under the Tapah parliamentary constituency.
Oversupply
Earlier, PN claimed that there was an oversupply of pig farms in the locality, arguing that such establishments should not be allowed to operate in Malay-majority locations near residential areas.
Most recently, PAS vice-president Idris Ahmad said the coalition possesses scientific evidence proving that Sungai Bidor was polluted by contaminants from a Kampung Poh pig farm.

While acknowledging that the pig farm is not located in the Ayer Kuning area, Idris stressed that authorities should probe the matter as Sungai Bidor is a secondary water source and recreational spot for the seat's constituents.
Yesterday, Agriculture and Food Security Minister Mohamad Sabu said that the nine pig farms in Ayer Kuning comply with waste disposal regulations and do not cause river pollution.
The finding, he said, was obtained from the state’s Veterinary Services Department (DVS) scientific study on the matter.
A total of 31,281 Ayer Kuning voters are set to cast their ballots today to elect a new assemblyperson for the state constituency.
PN is fielding Tapah PN chief Abd Muhaimin Malek, while BN has opted to put forth Tapah Umno secretary Yusri Bakir.
PSM deputy secretary-general Bawani KS makes up the three-cornered race for the state seat, which was declared vacant following the death of its incumbent Umno assemblyperson, Ishsam Shahruddin, on Feb 22. - Mkini
