His eight-year-old sister and parents were saved by rescue personnel and members of the public.

The state fire and rescue department’s operations centre said it received a distress call at 11.44am about a road accident involving a Nissan Teana that had fallen into the river.
“At 1.47pm, the water rescue team recovered the body of the nine-year-old victim, who was confirmed dead.
“His eight-year-old sister was rescued earlier at 1.28pm from the car at a depth of 3m before being taken to hospital.
“Their parents, both in their 40s, were rescued earlier by members of the public.
“The car was driven by the father and no other vehicles were involved in the accident,” Bernama reported the centre as saying.
The rescue operation involved over 30 personnel from the fire and rescue department, health ministry and police. - FMT
