A grassroots Umno leader in the Federal Territories has resigned as a member of the Federal Territories Foundation’s Board of Trustees.
Batu Umno division chief Gulam Muszaffar Gulam Mustakim made the move following the division’s decision to cut political ties with Pakatan Harapan.
“Promise kept. No more political ties between Harapan components and Batu Umno at the Batu parliamentary and Federal Territories level,” he wrote on social media today.
The resignation letter, addressed to foundation chairperson Dr Zaliha Mustafa – who is also the Federal Territories minister – was dated today and shared publicly.
He said the resignation takes immediate effect.
Sub-zone allocation
Free Malaysia Today reported that Gulam Muszaffar said Batu Umno severed its relationship with Harapan due to dissatisfaction over the allocation of sub-zones under the Residents’ Representative Council.

He claimed Harapan failed to honour its promise to give Umno one of the six sub-zones, which instead went to PKR.
He added that Batu MP P Prabakaran, who is from PKR, has never provided allocations for Umno to carry out work in the constituency. - Mkini
