PAS MUKTAMAR | PAS has poured cold water on Perikatan Nasional chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin’s proposal for all component parties to use the coalition’s logo in the 16th general election.
PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said Muhyiddin had jumped the gun, noting that such matters must go through PN’s top decision-making body.
“That statement somewhat precedes PN’s decision. As a coalition and equal partners in PN, no one is smaller or bigger.
“We have four components. So for PAS, any decision that needs to be made by the PN chairperson or anyone else must go through the PN supreme council.
“That’s why we say Muhyiddin’s proposal is rather premature,” Takiyuddin told reporters at PAS’ 71st annual muktamar at the Kedah PAS Complex in Alor Setar today.
Earlier, Muhyiddin said all PN components should contest under the coalition’s banner, including in Kelantan and Terengganu, where PAS used its own logo in the last state elections.

“It is my wish (to use the PN logo in all states), because we are in a coalition. Like in Kedah and Perlis, we used the PN logo in GE15, and it was fine.
“But PAS wanted to continue with their own logo in Kelantan and Terengganu, so we agreed.
“Moving forward, it would be better if we all used the same logo. That is my wish, but it is up to the leadership, up to them to decide,” he said.
Last Saturday, PAS spiritual leader Hashim Jasin suggested that PN candidates in Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, and Perlis should contest under the PAS banner.
PN’s top leadership is expected to meet next week to deliberate on the coalition’s prime minister candidate.
PN currently comprises four component parties - PAS, Bersatu, Gerakan, and Malaysian Indian People’s Party (MIPP). - Mkini
