PAS MUKTAMAR | PAS Non-Muslim Supporters Wing (DHPP) members have officially become party members, said PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan.
In his opening speech at the party's 71st muktamar in Kedah this morning, the Kota Bharu MP said this came after the Registrar of Societies (ROS) approved an amendment to PAS' constitution to accept non-Muslims as its associate members.
According to Takiyuddin, the party's membership has now risen to 1.3 million.
"I would like to inform the audience today that PAS has an additional membership category - associate members - after ROS approved the party's constitutional amendment last month.
"According to Article 10 of the amended constitution, conditions have been set that anyone who wants to join PAS as an associate member must be a Malaysian, aged 18 and above, and must practise any religion other than Islam.
"Following this new category, all DHPP members who were of the status friends of PAS are now automatically absorbed as PAS members under the associate members category,” he said.
This also means DHPP has become an official wing of the party alongside As-Sabiqun (PAS veterans) and the three other existing party wings, Takiyuddin added. - Mkini
