The duo, aged eight and six, will be buried in Port Dickson after the ruling on their religious status.

Negeri Sembilan police chief Alzafny Ahmad said that the state Islamic religious affairs department (JHEAINS) would handle the remains of the eight-year-old girl and six-year-old boy.
“The Shariah High Court judge ruled that the two victims were Muslims and ordered that they be buried according to Muslim funeral rites,” he said in a statement.
On Sept 5, Alzafny said police received information that a Nissan car had slid into Sungai Tanjung Agas, with the boy and girl trapped inside, at about 11.45am, on Sept 4.
The siblings, from Shah Alam, Selangor, were believed to have drowned after being trapped in the vehicle.
Alzafny said a 46-year-old man, believed to be the children’s father, and his 41-year-old girlfriend were remanded for seven days, from Sept 5, to assist in the investigation into the deaths of the two children.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
The media also reported that no family members or next of kin were present at the Port Dickson Hospital’s forensic unit during the victims’ post-mortem last Friday.
Meanwhile, JHEAINS director, Asri Abdullah, said in a statement the remains of the siblings had been taken to the Port Dickson Hospital for funeral rites and prayers. The burial will be held at the Maqbarah Salimah Cemetery, Taman Intan Perdana. - FMT
