
KUALA LUMPUR: The late Yap Shing Xuen, 16, who was killed in a school stabbing incident in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, will be cremated today at the Nirvana Crematorium in Shah Alam.
Her wake service, held over three days, concluded last night.
Yap was found dead in a school toilet on Oct 14.
Two edged weapons, believed to have been used in the attack , were recovered at the scene.
Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail said a 14-year-old student had been detained in connection with the case.
Following a post-mortem examination , police said the pathology report is expected to be completed within a month.
During a press conference at her daughter's wake on Thursday, the victim's mother, Wong Lee Ping, claimed that her daughter had suffered about 200 stab wounds . She also urged the public to refrain from spreading false information or rumours surrounding the case.
Wong said the family was devastated by the tragedy and appealed for privacy as they mourned the loss of their younger of two children. - NST
