KUALA LUMPUR: Toll collection for Section 1 of the East Klang Valley Expressway (EKVE) will begin at 12.01am tonight, after nearly two months of toll-free travel since the route opened on Aug 30.
In a statement, EKVE Sdn Bhd said the start of toll collection marks the full operational phase of the expressway, which connects Ampang, Hulu Langat and Sungai Long under the management of the concessionaire.
"As part of the Madani government's initiative to ease the people's burden, EKVE users have enjoyed toll-free access since Section 1 was officially opened by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Aug 30, 2025.
"The toll-free period was introduced as a temporary measure to allow motorists to familiarise themselves with the new route and to promote smoother traffic flow between Ampang, Hulu Langat and Sungai Long," the statement said.
Toll collection at Section 1 of EKVE will be fully electronic, using Touch 'n Go cards, SmartTAG and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) systems.
EKVE also advised motorists to observe road safety regulations and follow directional signages at all toll plazas to ensure smooth travel.
For further inquiries, users may contact the EKVE hotline at 1-300-88-3583. - NST
