ONE does not usually find a swimming pool in a shopping mall, unless it is part of a premium gym for example. So it would come as a surprise when a video post on X surfaced, showing a floor at The Mines shopping mall being flooded.
From the level, it appears not to be dangerous but the video highlights how the monsoon season can disrupt life in such a developed place.

According to news portal the Malay Mail, a sudden thunderstorm caused rainwater to pour into sections of The Mines, but the Seri Kembangan mall says it remains fully operational.
A statement released shortly after the incident said the flooding began around 4pm when an intense downpour led to flash floods outside the complex, allowing water to seep into several shops on Level 1 in the South zone.
Mall management said its team moved quickly to contain the situation, and most affected retailers were able to reopen by 7.30pm. “The mall is operating as normal, and the safety and comfort of our shoppers and tenants remain our highest priority,” it said.
Social media platforms were flooded with videos showing streams of water rushing across the lower levels of the mall. Shoppers could be seen walking through ankle- to knee-deep water as staff scrambled to move items away from entrances.
Based on the footage, the water appeared to be rainwater entering directly from outside rather than overflow from the mall’s signature indoor canal. The flooding is believed to have been triggered by heavy runoff overwhelming the surrounding drainage system.
The same storm also caused flash flooding in other parts of Seri Kembangan. No injuries were reported. Clips of the incident continue to gain traction online, with some reaching hundreds of thousands of views within hours. — Focus Malaysia
