The MIC has rolled out a new online party membership system, marking a significant milestone in its ongoing transformation agenda.
Positioned as a move to revitalise the party’s image and streamline internal processes, MIC said the digital platform is aimed at making membership applications faster, simpler, and more accessible to the public.
“This isn’t just about technology. It’s about renewing the party from every angle,” the party said in a statement, adding that the initiative is part of wider efforts to reduce bureaucracy and remove barriers that have long discouraged potential members.
Under the new system, applicants can submit their information digitally and will be automatically registered as party members once their details are processed, a major shift from the party’s traditional manual approach.
MIC said the digital upgrade is also designed to appeal to younger Malaysians, particularly Gen Y and first-time voters, as the party seeks to remain relevant in a rapidly evolving political landscape.
“We want MIC to be a party that speaks to the youth, that reflects their energy and aspirations,” the statement added.
The online system forms part of MIC’s broader modernisation push, which includes embracing technology to manage party affairs more efficiently and strengthen engagement with the public. — Focus Malaysia
