Government MP Wilfred Madius Tangau has taken Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to task for saying there was no compelling evidence of wrongdoing in the corruption scandal that implicated a slew of Sabah state leaders.
Taking to Facebook, Wilfred questioned why such a decision was made by the prime minister instead of the authorities.
"How come PMX is the one making this decision?
"Why wasn't such a decision made by the deputy public prosecutor or the federal attorney-general?" the Tuaran MP asked.
Wilfred (above), who is Upko honorary president, attached a photo of a newspaper report on Anwar's remark on a scandal involving businessperson Albert Tei, who released several videos showing some GRS leaders allegedly accepting bribes to facilitate Tei’s bid for a mineral exploration licence.

The prime minister told reporters during a meeting in Kota Kinabalu yesterday that video clips alone do not constitute sufficient evidence.
"In Sabah, I took the video very seriously. But then we looked (and in the video it was said): ‘I want to give you RM1 million, you can take next week'. That is not the case.
"You have to establish that there was a transfer of money. The cases that were established, they (MACC) charged. I draw the line," Anwar had said.
Tei had submitted more than 300 pages of evidence to the MACC, including money trails, bank records, documents, and written correspondence as evidence to back up the claims in the videos.
Of the 14 Sabah politicians implicated in Tei's videos, only two have been charged with corruption - incumbent Tanjung Batu assemblyperson Andi Suryady Bandy and incumbent Sindumin assemblyperson Yusof Yacob. Tei was also charged with giving them bribes totalling RM500,000.
Andi and Yusof are among the four of those implicated who are not contesting this election. Another 10, including caretaker chief minister Hajiji Noor, are defending their seats. - Mkini
