DAP says no talks held with PM over vacant ministerial posts

DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke today said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has not called or consulted DAP leaders over the upcoming Cabinet reshuffle, even though four ministerial posts remain vacant.

Loke said that although the Cabinet line-up is entirely the Prime Minister’s prerogative, discussions are normally held with the head of each party.

“This is a discussion between party leaders and the Prime Minister. So far, the Prime Minister has not discussed it with me at all,” he said.

“When the discussion does take place, every party will naturally give its own views, and I myself will convey my opinions face-to-face with him,” Loke told reporters this after officiating the ground-breaking ceremony for the Transit-Oriented Development of Seremban Sentral on Saturday.

Anwar has to fill the Economy, Natural Resources, Entrepreneur Development and MITI portfolios. Speaking separately last week in Cyberjaya. Anwar said he would consult with all his allies soon and maintained that the changes will be minor.

DAP currently holds six full minister posts. Observers say any delay in consultation among PH and Madani partners risks fuelling talk of splits in the final stretch of this parliamentary term.

The Seremban MP also said that the Prime Minister has not given any indication when the Cabinet reshuffle announcement will be made. — Focus Malaysia
